Granville Area Parks

The Granville area boasts a variety of public park spaces maintained by the Granville Recreation District, the Village of Granville, Denison University, and Granville Township including Spring Valley Preserve, Wildwood Park, Raccoon Valley Park, Bryn Du Mansion, Fanchion Lewis Park, and Sugarloaf Park. Granville Parks

Bryn Du Mansion

The historic Bryn Du Mansion has located on a 52-acre estate in the village of Granville. The front field, known as the Great Lawn or Polo Field, is 32.24 acres, which hosts a variety of sporting events, including lacrosse, field hockey, soccer, polo, and cross country races. The grounds are a great location for a leisurely stroll, or for a run through the massive lawn and grounds.

Denison Bioreserve

The Denison University Biological Reserve is a 350 acre site used for student education and research. Hiking trails are open to the public and are suitable for walking, running and mountain biking. Infirmary Mound Park

Named for the prehistoric "Infirmary Mound" located on the grounds, the 326 acre park is located on SR37 south of Granville. The park is home to Licking County Park District Headquarters. The trails in the park are shared with horseback riders (weather permitting). While the paths are mostly flat, there are some hills to challenge hikers and runners. The park hosts the Pink Strides 5K Trail Run and Walk. A pond, grassed and wooded trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, dog park, a prehistoric mound, and a wetland can all be found on site. Fanchion-Lewis Park and Ty Tawel Memorial Farm

This 43-acre wooded park is located at 1179 Jones Road, Granville. A parking lot, hiking trails, small pond, and picnic tables are available for use during daylight hours.

Raccoon Valley Park

This park is maintained by the Granville Recreation District. The park is located at the SR16 and River Rd. intersection in Granville. The park offers 4 baseball diamonds, 4 softball diamonds, baseball and softball batting cages, handicap-accessible playground, benches, concession stand, picnic tables, 2 soccer fields, stream access, and parking. At the rear of the park, a bridge over the Raccoon Creek provides access to the TJ Evans Recreational Trail.

 Spring Valley Preserve

Spring Valley Preserve consists of 45 acres of beautiful wooded property with marked nature trails, an open field, woodlands, shelter houses and ample paved parking located at 1539 Columbus Road Granville, OH 43023 The trails are not paved and biking is not permitted. The property was the site of the Spring Valley Pool prior to its closing, and was then acquired by the Licking Land Trust in 2007. The property is managed by the Granville Recreation District.

Sugarloaf Park

The Sugarloaf Park, located at 411 West Broadway, is a small park featuring a wooded hill with nature trails, picnic tables, and an old quarry site. Founders Monument, which was dedicated in 1905 during the Granville Centennial celebration, is located at the top of the hill accessed by a gravel path, along with the picnic area.

Wildwood Park

Wildwood Park is located on the west side of Granville at 785 West Broadway. This park is operated by the Granville Recreation Commission and hosts youth soccer games and the annual 4th of July fireworks show. The park boasts a large playground, a 100 person shelter house with picnic tables and restrooms, barbeque grill, soccer fields, community gardens, dog park, access to TJ Evans Bike Path, and ample parking. The playground is a favorite of families with young children.

Licking Land Trust

The Licking Land Trust's mission is the preservation and permanent protection of central Ohio green spaces -- wetlands, woods, farmlands, riparian corridors, and scenic vistas-- and education about the importance of green spaces and their conservation, all for the public benefit. Map.

Salt Run Park

The Granville Township Trustees acquired the 52 acre Salt Run Park property in 1991 for passive recreation activity use. The park is mostly wooded and additional maple trees have been planted. A grass walking trail loops through the property and connects to the Spring Valley Preserve trail network. A small parking area is located off of Spring Valley Drive. Primary access is through the Spring Valley Preserve's Valley Trail.
